The five core principles are : Challenge : To adhere to a long-term vision and meet all sort of challenges with apt courage and innovation for materializing that vision. It takes courage to ask questions, to understand the facts and to find purpose in work. Indeed the Challenge is a challenge in itself which is strived to be achieved with coherent efforts. Kaizen : (Continuous Improvements for Better) As none of the procedures can ever be declared as perfect, there is always some scope for improvement at all times. Kaizen at Toyota usually focuses on small improvements on daily basis so as to align all these small improvements for yielding larger results in holistic productivity and standardization. Kaizen includes performing changes, monitoring results and tweaking the performance with smaller experimentations on a regular basis for rapid induction to mainstream with suggested changes. Genchi Genbutsu : (Go and See) It signifies going to the root cause to identify the problem and find the facts to make correct decision. This is a key problem solving skill to build consensus and apply right approach to achieve goals. Respect : Toyota respects each other in its team as well as makes every possible effort to understand others. It accepts responsibilities and delivers its best performance to stack-up mutual trust and relations. It enhanced accountability on individual fronts to accept responsibilities by providing open and sincere communication with its “Customer First” approach.
